Zakopane - the city is located at the foot of the Tatra Mountains, in Rowo Podtatrzański (Zakopane Valley), by several streams, the waters of which eventually flow into the Zakopianka River, a tributary of Biały Dunajec. Within the administrative boundaries of the city there is a part of the Tatra Mountains (with the highest point being the top of Świnica - 2301 m above sea level). Apart from the Tatra National Park, the city lies at an altitude of 750-1126 m above sea level. The central point of Zakopane - the intersection of ul. Krupówki and Kościuszko is located at an altitude of 838 m above sea level. In the north, the Gubałówka range extends, and in the south, the Giewont tower towers over the city.
