Szklarska Poręba is a village situated in the valley of the Kamienna River, between the Karkonosze and the High Ridge of the Izera Mountains. The natural location at the foot of Szrenica (1362m above sea level) makes Szklarska Poręba attractive for tourists all year round. A dense network of hiking trails makes it possible to make trips to the Karkonosze and the Jizera Mountains. The downhill run and the network of ski runs on the slopes of Szrenica and a dozen or so ski lifts in the town itself create perfect conditions for tourism and winter sports. In Jakuszyce (a district of Szklarska Poręba), it is located in the Cross-country Ski Center, where the famous Piast Race takes place every year.
You can ski on the slopes of Szrenica from December to mid-April, because the lower sections of the slopes are snowed with technical snow.
