Hostels are the most popular option for cheap accommodation in a big city. They often do not have lesser standard than an average hotel; however, they have much more affordable prices. A typical thing for hostels is that they often don't offer whole rooms for rent but separate beds in multi-bedded rooms. We can usually find a hostel in downtown, often in the exact city cente or in the vicinity of the Old Town. It's the perfect base camp for any escapades and sightseeing. The first hostels originated from Germany from the early twentieth century. The hostels often offer a free internet connection and a common room for guests that is usually equipped with a TV set. We can also find all kinds of maps and brochures on the most interesting places to visit during the day and during the night. Hostels are connected with a form of traveling around the world known as \"backpacking\" (from the word \"backpack\", a backpacker is a person traveling with a backpack on their back). The thing that makes it different from the more traditional way of travelling is the use of low-cost public transport and sleeping in cheap hostels, not hotels. For many people, backpacking has grown to a lifestyle, and one of its main features is the need to be part of the community.
