In the years 1975-1998, the city administratively belonged to the Nowosądeckie Province. The commune consists of 6 villages: Kokuszka, Głębokie, Młodów, Wierchomla, Łomnica-Zdrój, Zubrzyk and seven villages. In winter, there are great snow conditions here, enabling you to practice winter sports in popular ski resorts in Sucha Dolina, Wierchomla Mała and Kokuszka. Downhill runs of various levels of difficulty make them suitable for both novices and experienced skiers. There are several T-bar and plate lifts in the ski stations, as well as chair lifts. There are also ski services, equipment rentals and ski schools. In Wierchomla and Kokuszka, artificial snow and lighting are used. The city's most precious resource is its natural healing mineral waters, known for a long time as "acidic waters". These are bicarbonate-magnesium-calcium-ferric waters. They are characterized by a high content of magnesium and calcium ions, neutralizing gastric juice, and the calcium chloride formed as a result of the reaction has an anti-inflammatory effect.
