Niedzica is a village partly situated on Lake Czorsztyńskie and in the Niedziczanka River valley on the border of the Pieniny and the Spisko-Gubałowskie Foothills. In the years 1320-1330, a castle called Dunajec was built here, to guard the trade route connecting Hungary with Poland. It is one of the most beautiful Polish castles. From the observation deck, built in the 14th century, and extended during the Renaissance, the stronghold offers an unforgettable view of the Pieniny range and the ruins of the castle in nearby Czorsztyn. With the so-called The Gothic Castle Trail in Niedzica is connected with the mysterious history of the Inca will. From the top of the mountains (982m) there is a wonderful view of the Pieniny National Park and the Dunajec gorge, which is one of the most beautiful river gorges. Dunajec, breaking through the Pieniny range, creates a huge rock canyon. The best way to see this canyon is by rafting on regional rafts.
