St. Bruno hotel is housed in a stylishly restored Teutonic castle, the history of which dates back to the 15th century. For centuries, this unique building structure served different purposes and has been subject to many modifications. Original Teutonic Fortress was used as a Hunting Residence Lodge for renaissance princes until the year of 1850, when it was transformed to a military headquarters of the Boyen Fortress.
Between WWI and WWII, when Giżycko - Lötzen was an elite resort. Paul von Hindenburg (later elected President of Germany) turned the building, which until then served as his private accommodation, into a regional museum. Castle’s renowned splendour has been heavily affected during the years following WWII, which have cast a shadow over its grandiose appearance. The situation has become even worse during the communist period, when the building went to rack and ruin.
It was not until 2010 when it was finally restored to become a 4-star boutique hotel, which happens to be the only 4-star hotel in this area. St. Bruno Hotel combines the exceptional atmosphere of historical site with the precision of contemporary design and latest global trends prevailing in the accommodation industry.
