Jarosław - a city and commune in Poland in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, Jarosław County, located on the San River, on the border of two geographical regions: the Lower San Valley and the Rzeszów Podgórze. In the Middle Ages, a city where three religions and three cultures met: Polish, Russian and Jewish. A city with a rich tradition and numerous monuments, an important junction of communication routes and a shopping center. In the years 1975-1998, the city administratively belonged to the Przemyśl Voivodeship.

Jarosław, located at the crossroads of trade routes from Silesia to Ruthenia and from Gdańsk to Hungary, as well as on a convenient waterway such as the San, had favorable conditions for development. The status of a private city, whose owners sought merchant rights and privileges, also contributed to this. It was already a significant trade and craft center at the beginning of the 15th century. In 1501, it received the right to store goods, which forced passing merchants to stop and display their goods. The city's greatest prosperity took place in the 16th and 17th centuries. The fairs held here were among the largest in the country and even in Europe (supposedly, in the 16th century, the nearest larger fair was held in Frankfurt am Main).
