In 1977, Chełm Śląski was included in the administrative borders of Mysłowice. The village is the seat of the Chełm Śląski commune. In the years 1975-1998 the town administratively belonged to the Katowice Province. Błędów is an integral part of the village. On the northern outskirts of Chełm Śląski there is a drinking water tank, officially named the Dziećkowice reservoir - the area of the former sand mine in Imielin. The largest hill is Chełmska Góra, also called Smutna Góra (284.3 m above sea level), numerous post-breeding ponds have survived, including the so-called Pacwowe Stawy and settler in the area of ul.
