Krakow is located in southern Poland, in the central-northern part of the Małopolska province. The city is situated on the Vistula River and its territory includes the mouths of the Vistula River tributaries: Prądnik, Rudawa, Dłubnia, Drwina Długa and Wilga. Kraków is located at the confluence of several geographical regions: the Kraków Gate, the Oświęcim Basin, the Sandomierz Basin, the West Beskid Foothills, and the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland. Kraków's location makes it an excellent base for trips to the Polish mountains or excursions to the picturesque Kraków-Częstochowa Upland.
