The School Youth Hostel in Puławy is an educational institution. The managing body of the facility is the Poviat Starosty in Puławy. Current director: Krystyna Tomczyk, MA The idea of opening the shelter was born in 1976, when Primary School No. 4 was moved to a new building at Zabłockiego Street (previously located in the old part of the shelter building). An adaptation of the old school was designed, along with a deliberate expansion. The entrance part was added: with the reception, common room and warehouses. It is worth emphasizing that in the new part, mainly double rooms with washbasins and rooms with bathrooms have been added. Spacious dining rooms and a kitchen have been created, as well as a separate tourist kitchen for individual guests, allowing tourists to prepare their own meals. A large, functional facility was created, with 105 beds, offering cheap accommodation for children, youth, students, teachers and members of the PTSM. We owe the existence of the shelter to the efforts of the Education and Upbringing Department in Puławy. This decision was a look into the future, it showed concern for the educational and tourist education of children and adolescents. Since then, the shelter has been working constantly, keeping all accommodation available. For 29 years, 365 days a year. The first manager was Stefan Krzewiński, who worked in the facility until 1989. Since January 1990, the shelter has been managed by Ewa Szpakowska. Director Ewa Szpakowska has been a member of the Main Board of the Polish Society of Youth Hostels - PTSM since 1996. Krystyna Tomczyk has been the director of the hostel since September 1, 2013. Puławy - a city in the western part of the Lubelskie Province, near the border of the Mazowieckie Province, situated on the Vistula River, on the edge of the Lesser Poland Vistula Gorge. An industrial (chemical, construction, pharmaceutical, etc.), scientific (5 research institutes, higher education), tourist and cultural center: being part of the Puławy - Kazimierz Dolny - Nałęczów tourist triangle, also the center: museology (the first museum in the Lands Polskich, and at the same time the oldest museum in Central Europe), communication junction (river port, 2 bridge crossings, main road and rail routes, in the future a civil airport in nearby Dęblin, etc.).
