Zakopane – a legendary city, a resort, the capital of the Tatra Mountains, and, in winter, of all of Poland. It's a great idea to come here for skiing in winter. The proximity to the slopes, the unique atmosphere, the vibrant highland folklore, and the beautiful landscapes will surely make you return many times. For some, Zakopane is a base for exploring Poland's only high mountains, while others come simply to stroll along Krupówki Street – the city's main promenade, a meeting and entertainment hub. It's full of cozy cafes, exquisite restaurants, souvenir shops, and art galleries. Zakopane offers more than just leather moccasins, warm woolen highlander sweaters, wooden aujopagi (chicken hayloft), and oscypek cheese (sheep's cheese), but above all, its unique atmosphere.
