Willa Słoneczna is one of the oldest pre-war guesthouses in Kazimierz Dolny. Its history is inextricably linked with the Wolny family.
Towards the end of the war, Bronisław, the first of the Wolny lineage, appeared in the town as an officer of the Austrian army stationed there. Shortly after, he married Władysława Barensówna, daughter of renowned restaurateurs who ran the famous Hotel Polski and Berens restaurant (lately known as ESTERKA) in the Market Square. Ancestor Bronisław became the mayor of Kazimierz (1920-1930), known for his integrity and contribution to promoting the town.
In 1919, the Wolny couple opened the Willa Słoneczna guesthouse on Szkolna Street, described by R. Jarocki in the article "Dzień Dobry, Kazimierzu!" as enjoying popularity in the summer due to its excellent cuisine and the hostess's tradition, as well as the loyalty of regular guests, mostly people who have been in love with Kazimierz for years.
The guesthouse's domain became its tasty, healthy, and abundant cuisine, especially the mushroom soup prepared with porcini mushrooms gathered from their own forest, and the magnificent bean cake. During World War II, Willa Słoneczna's activities were suspended, and after a few years, the legacy and reputation of the place were taken over by the eldest son, Janusz, and his wife, Zofia.
From that period, the guesthouse began to be visited by famous personalities, including Hanka Bielicka, Zofia Kucówna, Szymon Kobyliński, Mieczysław Stępień, and Gazdowa – a couple known from Warsaw cabarets, the Olszewski family, Kulesza, the acting couple Budzyński, and many other well-known people, which contributed to raising the guesthouse's rank.
Currently, the family tradition is continued by the third generation, Janusz's son, Stefan, and his wife, Józefa. They take care to maintain the unique atmosphere and excellent cuisine based on great-grandmother Władysława's recipes.
We offer sunny and cozy double rooms with balconies and large bathrooms, equipped with radios, wide sofas, and wireless kettles. Next to the rooms, there is a kitchenette (refrigerator, microwave oven, kettle, cutlery, dishes). On the ground floor, there is a large living room with a fireplace and TV, and a 2-room apartment with its own veranda, separate entrance, well-equipped kitchenette, refrigerator, and satellite TV.
The entire guesthouse is maintained in an old-style. Meals can also be ordered on-site: breakfasts and dinners. Pets are welcome. We provide our guesthouse guests with maps, information brochures, and guides (including archival ones). We also keep a memorial chronicle, whose entries are proof of our guests' affection.
There is also free, secure parking. A large garden, quiet surroundings, on the trail to Korzeniowy Gorge. Possibility to organize a bonfire or barbecue.
