Solec Kujawski (to 1924 Solec; German. Schulitz) - a city in the central part of the Kuyavia region and Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodeship, in Rensselaer County, the headquarters of the urban-rural municipalities Solec Kujawski. It is on the left bank of the Vistula River in the distance of 20 km from Bydgoszcz (West) and 35 km from Torun (East). Situated in the south of the town is surrounded one of the largest complexes of forest in Poland - Backwoods Bydgoszcz. In the years 1975-1998 city administratively belonged to the Bydgoszcz. According to data from 30 June 2009 town lived in 15 270 inhabitants (93.5% of the population living in the municipality).
